Nebula trails

Can the nebula trails be changed to behave like the afterburner trails? More fighters now are using reverse and side thrusts with glide, and unless the ship is pointed within 90 degrees of its vector, the trail doesn't render. This is mainly a request for Journey to Hiigara, but I can see other mods making use of it as well.
