Shivans, Vishnans, and Ken
Working my way through the boards, I've noted that one of the more prevailent theories is that the entity encountered (or supposedly encounted) during the events of Blue Planet, 'Ken' is Shivan in origin. After playing through Age of Aquarius again, I'm starting to wonder if that is the correct interpretation. The Vishnans, if I recall correctly, continually acknowledged their actions under Sam Bei's command with the phrase 'we destroy to preserve'.

The Ken entity appears to be asking Naomi to choose between groups to support, that one must be destroyed if the other is to exist. The Shivan's actions thus far have not appeared to favor any particular group over another. The GTA and PVN were both engaged, the GTVA was likewise, as well as the various splinter groups of NTF and Hammer of Light. The Shivans appear to be equal opportunity dealers of death. Since the very idea of choosing one side or another doesn't appear to be in the known Shivan vocabulary, that would tend to suggest that the other side of the coin is the one pulling the strings. It also would help to explain why the Vishnans dropped out of direct contact with the various UEF elders and the Bei's if they were persuing an agenda that the UEF would perhaps be reluctant to follow, instead using a pawn of their own making.

Any holes in my logic?

For me, Ken has always been Laporte, but there's also a component of multiple "forces" actively influencing what Ken or Laporte do, those seem to be:

Vishinans
Shivans
UEF

IMO, Ken will ultimately turn out to be what Laporte chooses him to be, but I have the suspicion that a 4th and even a 5th possibility might arise later (Brahmans or GTVA).

And Lo, Ken did turn out to be the ghost of Ghostmas past. Here to lead Laporte on a rampage accross the stars, to fill his coffers with blood so that we may dance in the meaty sustenance of D E S T R U C T I O N.

Or a shivan, one of those.

Re: Shivans, Vishnans, and Ken
It's an interesting theory, though I'm still on the Shivan side of things personally due to the contents of the aforementioned Ken nebula, as well as the various other theories on this board.

Truthfully, however, this is a part of WiH's story I never analyzed all that deeply, as I was always more interested in the more conventional aspects of the war. I'm likely missing some key point that was hidden away somewhere.

I believe once people start stretching Laporte to her limit, she'll use the subspace communication device and C-4-1 the Shivans. <insert Capella supernova chanting and BGM>

As for Ken...I don't know, Vishnans fighting to keep Ken out of Laporte's psyche maybe.

I scanned them too, but I couldn't think of any good way to put all the messages in a readable order. Has anybody done this already?

The ****? We tried to contact Ronny Cox to see if we could contact Ronny Cox. We also tried to contact the Terran Command guy, it doesn't mean Ken is Terran Command.

Ken's identity and reality are open questions.

But that doesn't mean he can't :P If he was GTVA Terran command and he commanded Laporte to destroy GTVA, the stupidity of that would be just about right for head-CM2 :P Or Laporte could just be nuts. Ubie made kill people is bound to go crazy, look at Kassim.

Re: Shivans, Vishnans, and Ken
Here's a few possibilities/theories I have formed so far, in random order:

Ken as destroyer, the voice of Shiva. Ken has steered Noemi to become somewhat of a destroyer, as it was referenced the 'voices' were always there (I believe it was said even before Noemi's birth). The Shivans may have an agenda of any kind, perhaps being pessimistic about the Terran potential as future Brahmas and wanting to exterminate them pronto, to open the road to other yet undisclosed or undeveloped races. Alternately, they might be trying to ruin the plans of the Vishans: perhaps a direct result of Shivans and Vishans having lost their apparant mutualistic purpose (their broken triad).

Ken as preserver, the voice of Vishnu. Ken has steered Noemi to 'do what has to be done'. It's all a matter of where one draws a very thin line of when one is destroying to preserve and destroying outright. Getting rid of the GTVA or forcing them to give up their war and thus being the subject of many changes and public outcry may help to make the Ubuntu a wide-spread way of life amongst all Terrans, also beyond Sol.

Ken as the legacy of the Brahma. Ken seems to teach Noemi the responsability to destroye AND preserve: by destroying one being the other thrives. Noemi has spiritual background of Ubuntu, which may serve to be able to judge who lives and who dies. While this can be seen as but one persons perspective and sound hypocritical, it's never said if the Brahmas were unbiased or not. If the Brahmas are builders, creators, keep in mind everything and anything can be created in an infinite amount of ways, some (if not all) neither right nor wrong.

Ken as a red herring. Ken may just be a by-product of scizophrenia and not be a direct voice of any kind at all. Noemi being scizophrenic may simply be a means to ensure she can do what she does today, although given there's some hints by Bei at the end of WiH1 that someone can listen to a great power I'm not sure if a red herring is in place here.

But frankly I don't know what happens in the end. Maybe all Terrans die and Kohnsu, through learning and observing from the terrans leads his people into a direction the devided terrans never could. And whatever role Ken plays can be many outcomes.

Here's the REAL Ken:

"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Yes he does. :P I humoured the idea that if anyone ever makes a parody on BP, they should have a barbie whisper into Bei's ear.
