Re: GoG.com Adds Classic EA Titles
Well looking at it this way, ever since the site opened up with a wishlist for games people would like GOG to add, System Shock 2, an EA game was the number one game on the list since they started the wishlist.

It's not on the included release.

Privateer 1 but no Privateer 2, hopefully that'll come out soon like they say Crusade will.

Guh it helps to read the entirety of their topics.

"While the agreement between Electronic Arts and GOG.com brings back many acclaimed and well known franchises, it doesn’t include the much anticipated System Shock or Syndicate series at this time."

Seriously EA, **** you.

I'll actually be angry about it when another several months have passed without it showing up.
I'm glad I'll actually have a chance to play Crusade for once.

Re: GoG.com Adds Classic EA Titles
As long as EA doesnt try to gobble up GOG i'm all for this. Looks to me at least some good games can be expected. ;)
I'm all about getting the most out of games, so whenever I discover something very strange or push the limits, I upload them here:

Aww, I kind of hoped it was LucasArts.  I have played exactly zero of their classic adventure titles, to say nothing of X-Wing or TIE Fighter.

Re: GoG.com Adds Classic EA Titles
I'd really like to get access to the old LA games sans disks (limitation as a kid with old computers) and sans DRM (annoyance/potential limitation now). I always wanted to play Rebellion, and having XWA would allow for some epic modded goodness. If LA would release the source of some of those old titles...

I wonder if Alpha Centauri is coming with its expansion.

I think I may very well spend more on GoG in the near future than I have for new games ever.

You can play most of Lucasart's classic point and click adventures through ScummVM. You'd need to get the original games, but they shouldn't be too hard to find. Pretty sure I saw some packs that include them dirt cheap and some of them are probably abandonware by now.

Re: GoG.com Adds Classic EA Titles
LA, much like EA, is notable for not letting old IPs go the way of abandonware... which is a shame. Absolutely NO ONE is getting any returns from zealously holding onto software rights for games from the early to mid 90's. Letting those programs go on as abandonware, or even better, letting the source code go as well wouldn't do any harm whatsoever. In fact, I think such actions would probably strike a very positive chord amongst a user base which might not think all that highly of either company, myself included.

That said, most any upstanding abandonware site won't have EA or LA games, as once more, they're protected property of their respective companies.

Why GOG, why don't you haz Ascendancy? Why?
Get Ascendancy please. kthxbai

And yeah, having the golden LA games from the olden days would be awesome.
Have still some of them around, though it's a pain to make them run on Windowzer ( XP 7).

Thanks for that Syndicate Wars link, Davros. It'll be fun to replay that without having to mess around with old computers or DOSbox :)

Crusade: No Remorse is fun, finally, finally got a chance to play it for the first time. Controls are odd at first and the Silencer tends to jump around if you approach open doors at funny angles, but it's fun.
Now they need No Regret. :D
And System Shock for ****'s sake.
