Hello, Im a soldier deployed overseas and looking to re install freespace 2....ive recently read that there have been plenty of mods and the scp that came out dresses everything up really nicely.....im really looking forward to playing this again and in all its new found glory...being overseas, the net is very very slow...and im told you can use the installer, which installs about 3 gigs of stuff..which will likely take FOREVER...if i dont get a crash..and if i do, ill likely have to start over...also...im told you can do it in pieces...where would i find a walk through to do it in pieces?  the installer i downloaded was for 3.6.10? and i believe there is a .12 out now?  soooo do i use the installer..or do i go piece by piece, but with the updated stuff?  sooooo if somone could please be so kind to point me in the direction as to where to get a full file listing of stuff i need to dl and install, where to put it, and what to edit...that would be great...please, any help would be greatly appreciated!

I believe you can use the installer and it will resume where it left off. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you're right.  But I think it's on a per-file basis.  It looks at files, compares to sizes online, and if it's missing/different, it downloads/replaces.

So if you had to start over, you'd be starting over from the most recently downloaded file.

Also, you need to get a copy of the original VP files in order for it to work.

I think i read somewhere I can get the original vp files off of the disc themselves and copy them over....thanks for the heads up on the installer picking up where it left off...that will make things much easier once i have downloaded a bunch of the other stuff...use that to tidy it up a bit. another question though,..the installer was for the .10 build...does it not automaticlly do the .12?

Also, despite the installer saying "3.6.10" in a few places, it does get the 3.6.12 executables.

It will automatically do 3.6.12.
