Good Day Everyone,

So I have installed FreeSpace 2, I have run the openinstaller.  I launched the game using the launcher.exe and configured the game as described in the NOOB Guide.

I am having a problem, I selected C:\games\Freespace 2\fsport-mediavps for my mod selection and I clicked on Run.

The beginning cut scene played fine and I created my pilot, however when I tried to run the first mission under the C:\games\Freespace 2\fsport-mediavps it said is was missing 2 ship models.

I tried C:\games\Freespace 2\fsport as the mod and launched but in the training session it asks me to set to full speed but never goes beyond that point to complete the training to run the game further.

Please help me out, I would like to see this game in action.

When in game, go to the campaign room and select the FS1 campaign. The FS2 campaign is selected by default with new pilots and it just won't work when FSPort is an active mod.

Also, when trying to use FSPort MediaVPs, they will also require the regular MediaVPs. If you used the Installer, you probably have them, but if the mod.ini of the FSPort MediaVPs sucks bum grapes, the game engine ignores the regular MediaVPs and fail. To check this, open the mod.ini file in your \freespace2\fsport-mediavps\ directory and take a look at the "secondarylist" line. It will probably say something like

Code: [Select]

secondarylist = fsport,mediavps;
If you have the 3.6.12 MediaVPs, that is, a directory \freespace2\mediavps_3612\ , edit the mod.ini so that the secondarylist line says

Code: [Select]

secondarylist = fsport,mediavps_3612;

I did as you recommended and I still get the mod is missing 2 ships.

K. Then please provide an fs2_open.log by following the instructions here.

I choose the directory C:\games\Freespace 2\fsport-mediavps as my mod, I was able to play through the training missions, then a the mission to deal with the 4 wings and the Ace.  When I went to the following training mission about commanding wings/counter measures I get this error and it will not go away.

Please help.

Really. That file will most likely help us pinpoint and solve the problem.

Yup, not much that can really be done troubleshooting-wise without that log file.

The warning you're experiencing only occurs with debug builds. So please switch back to fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF.exe. The debug build should only be used for producing logs when trying to find errors. The release build is what you should use when you just want to play.

Yeah,  it just stopped doing it, I rebooted my laptop and started using the r exe and have not had a problem since.  I will keep you posted.

Anyway, I thank you for your support, it is greatly appreciated.  I have enjoyed playing FreeSpace 2, it is of fun.
