Any time there is an event worth a fighter jet flyby, whether it's a Sox World Series game or in this case the Fourth of July, they have to loiter before it's time to do their performance, that holding pattern happens to regularly be  over my house.  So as soon as we heard the low wail of inbound military engines followed by the roar of a pass we knew we had some jets to watch, what followed was about an hour long air show by a quad of F-15Es which was super awesome.  Funny enough, the more you wave the better the subsequent passes, and we got a better show then the actual event that's getting the flyby.  I've often considered putting together "Go USAF" in big block letters to hang on the roof to see if it garners a reaction, it's a low pitched roof so I figure it would be pretty optimal.
