the windows boxs are just fine

Err, try to find the latest possible drivers for your GPU. Don't know how that is exactly done on Macs, but still. Also, try removing MV_Advanced.vp.

I can't figure out how to update my driver
 
I have been searching for the past half hour
all i came up with was windows drivers for my model
and drivers for other models
 
does anyone know how to get the latest drivers for
ATI Radeon X1600
on mac

Yes. Update your MacOS. Then complain in Apple's general direction for ****ing up their OpenGL drivers so hard, it's not funny.

I'm afraid The E is right, although complaining to Apple is of course optional. Your video card is so old, though (assuming this Wikipedia article is correct; I assume you have one of these machines) that if Mac OS X's Software Update doesn't have any updates for your video card, you're most likely out of luck.
