When I installed Freespace Open, it noted that there might be some missing files during the installation, yet it told me just to use the installer to update the files to get said missing files....it did not work. The installation might have been a failure. I keep getting an error report at both the start and end of every mission, but they don't close out the game, and during missions, after completing certain objectives, I get an error report, and the game crashes. So far the only mission that had this problem (this was in the main Freespace 2 campaign), was the mission in which you encounter the Sathanas for the 2nd time and must scan 4 of it's subsystems to complete the mission, but after scanning 2 of them, the game crashes. It does not matter which 2 you scan or in what order, it will always the crash the game and up comes an error report.

Another clue as to the installation being a failure is a few missing ship textures that were supposed to be enhanced by Freespace open, yet sadly were not.

I tryed updating the files with the installer numerous times, but each attempt brought nothing. Any help?

You are most likely (partially) missing the 3.6.12 MediaVPs because THE INSTALLER SUCKS and doesn't download them at the moment. A log will confirm if this is so.

Do we have any word on what's causing this, and how it can be resolved?  It's obviously already causing some widespread trouble.

It fails to get some config file for downloading the MediaVPs and then pisses up. One moment, I dig up the file.

Edit: It's mv.txt, which the Installer tries to download from http:173.8.193.66:7701/svn/MediaVPs/ , but fails. The issue can be partially solved by simply making that file yourself according to jr2's instructions here. Emphasis on "partially".
