A child protection official for the Catholic Church has been caught with 4,000 pictures of child porn.

Father-of-four Christopher Jarvis was arrested after uploading pictures of children being abused to a website.

Married Jarvis, 49, a former social worker, was employed by the church following sex scandals about pervert priests.

His job was to monitor church groups to ensure paedophiles did not gain access to children in the church’s congregations.

But he was caught by police in March with more than 4,000 child porn images on his home computer and his work laptop.

He admitted 12 counts of making, ­possessing and distributing indecent ­images when he appeared before ­magistrates in Plymouth and is likely to face jail when he returns to court for sentencing next month.

Jarvis, who has been sacked from his job as child safeguarding ­officer, worked the Diocese of ­Plymouth for nine years.

Church spokesman ­David Pond said: “Mr Jarvis was suspended from his position as soon as the diocese became aware in March of the police investigation.

“The Bishop took that action and since then the Church has worked closely with the police.”

How anyone can keep being a member of this organisation is beyond me. I mean I know that a lot of catholics don't neccesarily have access to negative information about the church, like them supporting the pedophiles by shuffling them around, and the pope saying that condoms cause aids, but at some point you have to wake up and I don't see any of that happening, despite the Catholic church being the laughing stock of the world. I guess it's not that hard for it to keep going on when the pope dismisses all of these pedophilia problems as "rumors" and instead blames homosexuals. Oh well.

I've heard this many times. It may be a "good question", but fundamentally it's a simplistic and flawed one. IOW, if you ask this question you don't understand what is to be a christian.

NGTM, I actually think (and said so) that his charge against all christians who belong to the RCC is silly. Having said that, I have seen this criticism many times elsewhere, and whenever I try to combat it, I'm hilariously confused as being a catholic apologist (ME! LOL).

Having said all this, I still think that the news report is very very ironic and "newsworthy". While I agree with you on most of your indignation, this **** isn't exactly business as usual. The RCC has shown pretty godawful stuff lately, and anyone who dismisses it with a handwave is also being just silly.

As expected, children are  in much more danger with child protective services than with their parents. Just like how PETA doesn't actually care about animals. Control freaks get into power because its the most important thing to them, and pedophiles attempt to run day cares to get access to children (a few cases in the Netherlands this year of those who were caught).

That's also why tyrants always slip back into power, it's like a magnet to such people.
