158th ITNE's Kievs had something boosting them to speed. I thought it was afterburner but i don't remember anymore xD It might be worth checking.

They used a docked "booster" ship IIRC.

AFAIK they had a #booster version of the original shipclass which had a higher topspeed and used change-ship-class to change from / to this version when they needed it.

I swore it said that there was an object docked, but swapping ship classes would definitely work too :P

You could actually do this fairly simply in FRED... in fact.. I expect to see this in the next JAD.

I swore it said that there was an object docked, but swapping ship classes would definitely work too :P

The "Volkov II" object was docked to Kievs in the early mission builds but this was changed to the change-ship-class implementation because it caused a lot of bugs. I think Talon1024 deserves the credit for the change.
