flipped normals (why me?)
well, after many modifications, I finally put a working model into FS2, but I am cursed with flipped normals.  now, here's the wierd part.  the model was ABSOLUTLY fine is TS1, but something must have happened during the conversion.  segultuch (sp?) won't read the model so I can't flip there.  also, it is all one subobject, a very simple one in fact.  maybe it's because I modeled in Rhino?  any ideas?

hmmmm worst case senario - i'll have a look with ts4 and put teh normals right if its a small model not turning over hundreds of faces - unless of cource they are all fliped then not a problem

Rhino has backside rendering turned on by default. You can and should turn it off in the Rhino control panel. TS may also have backside rendering enabled, so your model may look absolutely fine but in reality be flipped. TS has a flip face button somewhere, and in Rhino you can flip faces by selecting them and typing the "flip" key command.

I used to have exactly this problem with blender too, because blender also has double-sided rendering turned on by default. As soon as I figured that out I just turned it off and individually corrected the faces before exporting as DXF
If it aint broke, break it!

well, all of the faces are flipped.  if I can find the flip faces button in TS I should be fine.  I just don't know where it is.

I would help you with this one, but I can't find the damned TS1 serial number... Even after I don't use it any more, it still strikes me...

Thanks, but I already found it myself. I had it written down on a sheet of paper that had disappeared behind my monitor.

But, I can't find the button too... I know why I'm now using TS4...
Well, anyway, the Rhino command does work, and you could also run the model through 3D Exploration and flip the faces there.

yay! it worked!  this is great!  now I'll be able to make models for real!  I'm not sure when I'll get when one out, but rest assured (sp?)  it'll be original at least!  I'll probably start with fighters and work my way up to cap ships.  until later!
