Got crash in M09-1 Enter Dawn

That's not an error I can do much about.
Does it happen every time you start the mission?

No. Random. Can occur at any time. BP1&2 - work fine.

I've had the very same issue  ;)

Code: [Select]
ASSERTION FAILED: "(bm_bitmaps[n].handle == bitmapnum)" at bmpman/bmpman.cpp:2039  bitmapnum = 1061491798, n = 4548, bm_bitmaps[n].handle = 0

My PC is:
SVN 7648 Debug build (hacked to get around a jpeg library mismatch)
AMD Phenom(tm) II X2 550 Processor
GeForce GTS 450 (275.09.07)
Linux skywalker 2.6.32-33-generic #72-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 29 21:07:13 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux

BP 1&2 also work fine for me.

It's actually prevented me from playing WoD at all, I think the 1st mission started successfully for me once, and it's crashed about 5-10 other times.  I've been meaning to dig through the code to see what is triggering the assertion, but I haven't got round to it yet (too busy with PVS studio stuff).

kir2yar - I think I've found an issue in the code which could cause this crash.  I've created a new build (based off 3.6.12 rather than the most recent nightly builds) - can you try it and let me know if it resolves the issue for you?  If it does, I'll see if I can get the patch added to SVN.

Spoon - I think there may also be an issue in the Ray.pof.  I've run fs2_open through the debugger and it seems that the glowpoint on the Ray doesn't have a valid texture defined?  Could you check this at your end to see if this is really a problem, or if I've got a dud download? (if it's my download then my patch may not work for kir2yar)

Can you post debug build? I got another crash, this time - no "ASSERT" in console. :( May be unrelated...

OK - try this: http://www.mediafire.com/?uezjt211f4kas18

However, it might also be a good idea to grab a recent nightly (except the Linux nightlies tend to be a bit behind), or get the code from SVN and build your own exec from trunk.  The reason I say this is that a number of Linux related issues have been fixed since 3.6.12, e.g. BP:AoA & BP:WIH crashed a number of times for me on 3.6.12.

I often play from SVN. Tomorrow try your build and svn.
