Re: LRO gives best images so far of Lunar Landing Site
I think the time Buzz Aldrin punched the reporter in the face for having the nerve to imply that he never risked his life in the space program was probably the greatest thing I've ever seen.
Nitpicky correction time!  That wasn't actually a reporter, though there were several with him at the time.  No, it was Bart Sibrel, a very vocal Moon Hoaxer.  That doesn't make Buzz and his deed any less awesome, though.

Ah, my mistake, then. Either way, the guy absolutely deserved to get rocked.  :D

I thought the Moon was secretly a massive alien robot used to subjugate all of the DNA-based lifeforms on Earth, with the real Moon hidden in another dimension.

It makes me happy to get that reference.

Re: LRO gives best images so far of Lunar Landing Site
This was all a smokescreen to hide the OBVIOUS fact that at its heart it actually a fully armed and operational battle station.

I seem to recall seeing a novel series on TVTropes that actually did this.

It was an episode from this. The history channel has fallen to an all time low.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

It actually sounds like a very interesting show, but yeah it was definitely played on the wrong channel.

Well if you're interested I think youtube still has most of them online. I think the episode that had the death star moon thing was titled "the mission".

I watched all of them with a friend in sort of an MST3K style, its so full of circular inane gibberish there's plenty to make fun of. We even had a running bet as to which episode was more stupid, unfortunately the one he chose had the death star moon in it so I had to concede defeat.

Thanks, I'll see if I can look them up on the 'tube...I enjoy researching paranormal theories for the imaginative and creative stimulation they provide. Plus they're a whole lot more entertaining (and effective) than most modern thriller/horror movies anyway.  ;7

i liked cable back when channels decided to specialize, as such that you could lock out shows you didnt want to see or even know about by simply not turning on certain channels. there were a lot of good shows on back then. nowadays all the channels are competing over how many crap shows they can air and the american cable/satellite customer is too stupid to turn off their tv when nothing is on and report it to the ratings people. i mean i fill out neilson rathings just to make a statement about how little tv i watch, because frankly thats the only way you can really convince the networks of how ****ty their programming is. its sad that my favorite chanels right now are amc, tcm, and pbs. 10 years ago i wouldnt have been caught dead watching these channels.

Yeah, nowadays it seems like a lot of television channels are programming for the lowest common denominator. I used to watch substantially more TV when I was younger, but then I discovered the internet.  :p
