Update!  Model and texture complete!

My latest.  The last ship from the old set that's been lost, figured it was about time that I started remaking it.  I think I'll call this one the (TIE)Sex Bob-omb(er) because I've watched Scott Pilgrim about 5 times while working on this haha

One big plus of this model is that it's accurate to the filming model, unlike my old model, which was based on the EGVV schematics (back when I was stupid)

For a fun little bonus, I did a mockup of the EGVV schematics accurate Bomber (The one on the left, vs the one based on the filming model on the right), just for comparison:

Wow, so many details. I'm looking forward to see it textured. :)

I hereby dub the EGVV-version the FAT-bomber. Other than that: it's looking sexeh already! Keep the shots coming!

Your focus is commendable. I usually spend days fiddling with stuff, or staring off into the distance.

Well, I didn't start it today, this has been a week or so in the works.  I just don't bother putting up super early WIPs anymore (Too many complaints about things that aren't even done yet)

You sir work like a beast. Textures looking good already, can't wait for the finished piece!

Time to bomb the big Asteroid. :)

Will it be possible to have this ship make bombing runs like in that asteroid field scene in TESB? I'd guess a secondary fire point that faces downwards would be needed for that (I think the Tiger class Starfury in TBP has a primary fire point in that configuration).

Extremely nice work I must say.

Yes, it will be possible to do that, AFAIK.

Nope, it uses a turret.
But I've done such configurations on Steve-O's fighters, so they work. Homing torpedoes launched like that look really cool.

I think the rectangular things on the top and bottom of your cockpit might be a little narrower than the one on the studio models. My measurements of the images on the exhibition page of SWTC suggest a width between 55% and 60% of the cockpit cylinder, whereas yours are perfectly 50%. Also you might want to consider modeling the little details on the front of those rectangle things; I think that would help break it up and reduce the appearance of raw geometry. You might be able to get away with just modeling the larger pair in the center and adding the outer pair as normal maps, I dunno.

Easy way to check the width there, the outer edges match up with the diagonal spokes of the cockpit window, on both the studio model and on mine.  As for the detailing, I think things will be just fine as they are.

I'm not certain about the difference, and it's subtle enough that I won't argue it further, but I felt compelled to illustrate it:
