I'm in the process of updating my copy of FreeSpace2 and will likely be doing the same for FreeSpace1 and possibly Silent Threat if that's possible.
I haven't played since my last post which was likely about 2 years ago, maybe more.
while I appreciate the support and consistent updates that have kept this game epic and amazing instead of doing fresh installs of FreeSpace 2 v1.2 and then updating it all the way to today off the web each time I was hoping their is a convenient way to save and burn the game to disc.
y'know install off the discs then install last version off another disc via a reasonably simple process.
I typically go through 2 to 4 computers a year, I plan on replacing this computer's SSD drive for a new one soon and I don't save data preferring to format and start from scratch.... this is how I lose my data as I forget to back up stuff that I don't realize matters until long after the next install.
I may be thinking along analog terms due to my age and idiocy but it's a genuine fear that one day FS may be gone or that HL's days could come to an end and what a loss it would be if all of this work went with it, still feel the same way about Valve's Steam service and Apple's Itunes and any product that is dependent on the web.
thx.
