What's wrong with the cockpit, it's the same size and shape as the original's. Sure, it's big, but so was the original. The only things that strike me as negatives are those exposed pipes, which look a bit silly to me ("I'm a primary conduit for something vital! Shoot me out!"), but other than that it's awesome.
