I'm tired of making stupid topics, so now I'm going to make a really stupid topic. What are your favorite foods?

Instead of listing the usual pizza, hotdogs, hamburgers, I'm going to list something different.

Bagel Bites (technically still pizza but who cares?)

Rocky Road/Heavenly Hash Ice Cream

Chicken Flavored Ramen

Stew (We have a family recipe. Contains beef + chicken + vegetables + some others stuff idk. its good.)

...who the heck lists pizza, hotdogs or hamburgers as their favourite food? :sigh: Good grief.

I dunno, I would list self-made instances of those.

Of course, that would be somewhat below self-made Coq au vin, self-made Gulash, self-made Spaghetti Bolognaise... Lots of stuff that is self-made, actually.

It appears that Europeans are far more cultured than their American counterparts.

Self-made food is dying out in this country. Or at least in my area. Most of the older folks know how to cook, and they can cook well. But with each successive generation we cook for ourselves less and less, or the recipes get crapper.

Fair enough. I'm by no means saying that they're not good or can't be a legitimate favourite, but in those cases I'd really expect one to mean a very specific kind of pizza or hamburger. Or, in other words: if your favourite food happens to be a pizza then fine, but if pizza is your favourite food then you're a barbarian. :D

Not a favourite but well up there is the pork chops, mash potato, roast potatoes, sage and onion stuffing, Yorkshire puddings, peas, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower, otherwise known as a Sunday lunch in the UK with all but the stuffing and gravy prepared by myself.

Pancakes. The dutch ones, obviously. The ones where eating two of them is enough for an evening meal.

Hearing about stuff like that makes me want some down home cooking. Soup beans, cornbread, lettuce and onions; it all sounds so good right now.

There is a really simple solution for this silly assertion.

Learn.  To.  Cook.

I'm making butter chicken tonight.  From scratch.

Yeah, cooking is one of the most valuable skills you can have. Start out with a few of your favourite dishes, learn to cook them well, and branch out from there.

And that's without mentioning that cooking is just plain fun, especially if you're doing it for (or with*) your mates.

*Cannibalism is not as much fun though. Use pig instead. Taste is somewhat the same, and there's a whole lot fewer legal issues.

Too many foods to list really, but anything that the girlfriend and I make together is probably right up there at the top.

Hmmm, thinking on it, I make a good mushroom risotto, probably one of my favourite meals if done with some chicken breasts wrapped in bacon and given a light filling of cream cheese, and choice of vegetables. (Steamed broccoli and asparagus go very well with it)

Angus steak covered in sea salt and garlic.  Wrapped in bacon.  Fast cooked to medium rarity, then a slow smoking.  Sides of portabella mushrooms, mashed potatoes, steamed carrots and cauliflower.  Delicious bourbon to wash it all down.  Salted ham and ice cream for dessert.

Mmmmmmmmm!

Going for a heart attack at 30.  No regrets! =D

im a big fan of mexican and chinese, and i can cook both just fine. my meat loaf is to kill for. i had a thing for cooking chili, but i kinda lost interest, i could turn a couple pounds of venison and a pile of peppers into thermonuclear death chili from hell, from the bullet to the bowl i always say. of course sometimes you just need to throw a ribeye on the grill and serve it rare with some beans. when i get luckey at the fishing hole i know about a dozen different ways to cook fish.
