Now that sounds like the end of the world. Also, how will they power that? They'll most likey burn out a couple thousand power stations.
A small voice in my head tells me they are have followed us here in the Milky Way. They follow us until we are dead at their feet. We are nomands of the stars, no longer the race that was loved by the Great Elders. My name is Kyral and this is my story of survival.

There is no sanctuary for us, in this Universe. We will fight the Terror for one last time on this Shining World. May the Transcendent judge us kindly in the Life Stream.

Man, you just know how the meeting that got this going would have gone:

"So, wanna build the world's most ridiculously powerful laser?"
"**** yeah I do! Now, how do we get it past the grant's committee?"

Hmm, now if they station mirrors in enough places in orbit that can handle this laser, mayhaps they could shoot down ICBMs ala live free or die's SAPL...

You'd have to have a mirror capable of reflecting the amount of light that the sun ouputs (or was it 2x the sun?) without breaking.  If you can fit those on an ICBM, sure.

Why do two James Bond movies come to mind when thinking about space stations and lasers...

the issue is energy density, if you have a mirror capable of reflecting this laser, then it can be made of any size.

And the grant committee meeting:

"So, wanna build the world's most ridiculously powerful laser?"
"**** yeah!"

Also, of note is that the diagram refers to it as a superlaser, and it will be composed of several tributary lasers. Throw in a hypermatter annihilation powersource, and you've got the Death Star right there.

World's most poweful super laser, check. Now we just need to find a shark big enough to attach it to it's head.
