SNES, why you make me so mad?
My Super Nintendo controller's cord is a goddamn.... three feet long. This means I can barely sit on the edge of my bed and still be able to play a Super Nintendo game. When my friend gave me a Super Nintendo one or two Christmas' ago, he didn't include the range extender.

By comparison, my hardwired Xbox 360 controller's cord is 9 feet long; a comfortable distance. Perhaps a bit too much; it's longer than the GameCube's.

I could get one of the extension cables from Amazon, but I don't really want to go that route.

SO  what I want to know is:
can I...
  • Take an original SNES controller and use some kind of bluetooth dongle/infrared thingy as well as a receiver and make a wireless SNES controller that actually works with a real SNES?
  • Take one of them thar SNES USB pads for PC and make/use some kind of reverse (PC back to console) converter and make it work with a SNES?
  • Combine 1 and 2?

I have read articles and how-to guides on the interwebz about making wireless SNES controllers for Wii. I don't want that. I want it to work with an actual Super Nintendo.

tl;dr
  • Can I make a wireless SNES controller for my SNES?
  • Can I take a SNES pad for PC and make it work for my SNES?
  • do both

And I don't want no GD facepalms or comments like "FC y dont u just use ZSNES and get a PC SNES USB pad nd connect ur PC to ur TV" or "FC u know u can just use virtual console on Wii rite? nd if u want to u can make a snes pad compatible with ur wii" or "lol ur a dumbass." Because:
1. Boy, didn't anybody ever tell you there ain't nothin like the real thing? and
2. I have a SNES, I might as well get some use out of it. Especially considering the fact that I got it relatively recently.

P.S. I figure Nuke will know something about this. He is making a "Joystick of Doom," after all, even if it is for PC.

Yes. If you can build a custom wireless bridge that can hook up to the SNES controller and the SNES.

Cut the what? And I'm supposing I'll have to splice more SNES cable onto it or does it not matter what I use? I've never had to deal with hardware before, so I'm kind of in the dark regarding that whole area.

Same basic principle as the wavebird right?

#1. I have yet to see, on this forum, the level of (in)eloquence described in your post.
#2. I applaud your refusal to use ZSNES.  Please excuse me while I go beat a 40-hour-combat-padded RPG in a half-an-hour.

me too, buuut.

I had one on my w995 two/three years ago :)

Regarding the physical extension of your cord/cable/wire/flex/etc.

It's easier to visit an electrical diy site and lookup a guide than to read my long wonder prattlings, but I assure you it's the technically simplest, cheapest, and speedy solution to your problem xx

Problem solved Cobra. Get an emulator despite your issues regarding the Gamecube one

I personally have three. SNES, N64, Gamecube/Wii
Soon I'll get a PS2 one as the new PS3's don't do reverse compatibility

Still despise the fact the ROM for Rogue Squadron doesn't work
But that's too off topic

Endgame: Don't worry yourself about SNES cords myte. Take your xbox controller, hook it up to the computer, get an emulator, profit

Or do as us early 90s kids done, and sit closer to the telly and moving the snes as far forwards as you can.

You'll have to excuse me for being a refined member of the late-1980's NES generation.  Someone should have taught you youngin's how to use furniture properly.  :P

Can it old man, at least our consoles didn't run games off of cassette tapes and circuit boards.    :D

Dude, I've been doing this for YEARS! I use project 64, zsnes, virtuaNES, visualboy advance, and kega fusion. And I use an Xbox 360 controller. But, like I already said, I want to get some use out of my Super Nintendo.

Am I the only one who thought to push the chair closer to television/SNES deck?  Sometimes the simplest solutions work best.

I done did dat. But see, my bed is right in front of my tv. I already have to move my SNES as close to the edge of the dresser as possible. And I have to sit on the edge of the bed. The foot of the bed is made of wood. No cushion is provided, so it makes my ass hurt.

NOW! FOR SOME REAL EXCITEMENT! Look at what I discovered about an hour ago:

YouTube: Universal Wireless Retro Controller for SNES, N64, Saturn, etc...

at first I was like: WOOOOOOOOOOO
but then when I got to looking at the instructions I was like: O.O

Looks complicated, but I think I should be able to figure it out. With help from the interwebz. And maybe HLP.  :drevil:

A wise old man once said something which has solved many of the problems in my life, and may just help you with understanding and implementing the instructions.

This is what he said:

"DO A BARRELL ROLL"

it sounds to me that just getting the whatever off amazon would be far easier and worth the money.

I, a former NES enthusiast, approve of this message :D.

Cobra, I think your best bet would be soldner (or whatever the hell it is cauled when you use tin and a hot metal object to melt two wires together) and a lot of whatever cable the thing uses. The risk is obviously that you ruin the thing, but I am quite sure that any electronic shop could tell you what sort of materials to use, and you can practice solding on old broken headphones. If it does not work out for you, bad luck. if it does, you will have a few extra headphones ;).

Re: SNES, why you make me so mad?
you can't really do any permanent damage just soldering two pieces of wire together.  worst case, you just melt it off and try again. (provided you use common sense and do the soldering well away from everything else).  or if the cords are copper braid, just strip it, twist that **** together and electrical tape/heat shrink it back up.
