musically.... good i guess.  vocally and lyrically not really there.  eddie still shreds, and they cranked the bass a little excessively trying to show off wolfgang it seems.  sad to say, but i think Van Halen has now joined the ranks of old bands that should just stick to touring their classic material and not put out new albums.  i wish they'd get michael anthony back, but that's not got a shot in hell of happening.

Some bands never loose it, or they just lose it very slowly. I think a lot of the old ones just stagnate after a while, trying to keep the same old sounds that made them famous rather than being fearless enough to try something new. Or, they don't stagnate, but they burn out in a creative sense. Music requires a passion, and stagnant, burned out chaps will just have a hard time forcing it out. One must give them credit for trying, though.

I love Dire Straits. Really good, old music. Knopfler was the lead singer of the band, and still continues to preform solo.

nirvana can suck it.  i don't care what everyone thinks they "did for music," nirvana ****ing blows. 


but it still would have been better than what the party turned out to actually be, a bunch of 90's rap and a few pop (brittney spears/backstreet boys kind of garbage) thrown in.

that's 2 out of 2 sub-par songs for the new record.  the few second snippets that were released for 6 or so more songs weren't really encouraging ever.  re-thinking buying on release day.

i REALLY hope they don't turn out to be the second time atlantic records has destroyed my favorite, and one of the best bands of the era.  (collective soul being the other)
