Anyone else following this? Here's a quick summary of what's officially known so far. There are one or two other things it might be (some kind of hyper-accurate satellite based remote sensing system, for example), but the consensus around the place seems to be it's going to be an asteroid mining venture. Which is incredible, given that, at this point, we've never even sent a human being to an asteroid.

The official announcement is tomorrow, and I hadn't seen any topic on here about it, so keep an eye out peeps - this could potentially be the start of the biggest thing to happen to space exploration since the moon landing.

First time I have heard of this, very interested to hear what their time scale is and how they are going to overcome the transit costs involved in moving equipment into orbit, even with the new generation of space planes under R&D it's still going to be costly unless they can find something rare or otherwise hard to obtain on Earth.
