Alright so I'm reinstalling FS2+SCP and I used this thread and followed the instructions. But I want to install all the mods/campaigns as well as the mediaVPs and the media vp thread said I can use an installer.

However this thread...:

... says it's outdated and then points me back to the manual installation thread. Do I have to install the mod campaigns + media VPs manually?

Yes. We're working on a new installer, the old one is (apparently?) broken. I'm not sure how exactly.

Do I need to do mediavps still separately. I'm a bit confused on this sorry there's so many variations .

And if I download the mediavps_3612.zip does that include the OGG files, Root zip, etc. all that other stuff in this thread to fully enhance FS2?:

Or do I  need to separately install the OGG zip, effects zip, assets etc. as well as mediavps zip?

Finally, do all these folders go under data or under the main FS2 folder? (c:\Games\Freespace2\data\mediavps_3162 for example)

Uh, you need to install them according to the instructions. If Turey's Installer worked without a hitch, you could use it, but at the moment, yes, you must install the MediaVPs by hand.

As said in the thread, mediavps_3612.zip "Contains the mod.ini, FSU-MVP.bmp and Readme.txt and sets up the mod folder". So no, it does not contain any actual MediaVPs, just the folder, mod.ini and a pretty picture for the Launcher.

The MediaVPs should end up in \freespace2\mediavps_3612\ .

All mod folders (including the MediaVPs) go under /FreeSpace2/, not under /data/. So your MediaVPs folder will look like /FreeSpace2/mediavps_3612/mv_root, mv_effects, so on.
