In Germany, the Deutsche Hochschule der Polizei (which is a sort of University geared towards training Police officers) annually compiles statistics about various things related to policework in Germany. One of those stats is the use of firearms.
Now, a little guessing game: Germany has a population of about 80 million people. How many times did the german police use their firearms in conjunction with crimes?
Not counted are incidents where shots were fired to kill injured, sick, or dangerous animals, of whih there were 8812 incidents.
The answer is, 85 times. 49 warning shots, 36 shots on-target, 15 of which wounded the suspect in question, 6 killing the suspect.
It should be noted that this is only a slight decrease from the previous year's statistics.
