In Germany, the Deutsche Hochschule der Polizei (which is a sort of University geared towards training Police officers) annually compiles statistics about various things related to policework in Germany. One of those stats is the use of firearms.

Now, a little guessing game: Germany has a population of about 80 million people. How many times did the german police use their firearms in conjunction with crimes?

Not counted are incidents where shots were fired to kill injured, sick, or dangerous animals, of whih there were 8812 incidents.

Spoiler:
The answer is, 85 times. 49 warning shots, 36 shots on-target, 15 of which wounded the suspect in question, 6 killing the suspect.

It should be noted that this is only a slight decrease from the previous year's statistics.

What is the number of firearms per capita in Germany?

According to wikipedia (which cites a 2007 study), it's 30.3 per 100. Which puts it there with Iceland, Austria, and Canada.

For reference, the US sport a ratio of 88 per 100.

I tell you what, you guys do Police work right. The only thing I previously knew about policing on your end was off of Inspector Rex, and even that did alright. :P

This is how it should be done, and Germany is doing it right. The purpose of a police force is to protect, not kill, otherwise they would be called something else in the first place. :yes2::nod::yes:

between the time i become world dictator and the time i nuke my empire, i plan on creating a police force who's sole job is to kill people indiscriminately. im gonna call them pigs.
I can no longer sit back and allow communist infiltration, communist indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

Ah...****. :warp:
Seriously. They've hardly got any crime there. The worst they ever get is tourists trying to bring home kangaroos as pets.

Was also formerly a part of Germany at one part, IIRC.

But... I'm not entirely unconvinced that they don't get tourists that want to bring in pet kangaroos from their recent excursion to Australia...

It's a show that stars a police dog named Rex. I've never watched it myself but it's (or at least was - I don't watch TV that much so I don't know if it's still on) advertised a lot on our SBS channel.

...Oh, Angelus got there before I was able to post this. :P

No relation. Norway's not part of Germany.
