Glad I've been boycotting ubisoft for a long time.
Likewise. The last Ubisoft game I bought was
Silent Hunter IV, and I skipped the expansion, since Ubisoft decided to test to see if they could use it to ransom bug-fixes. (For those unaware, you cannot download the 1.5 patch. It comes exclusively with the
U-Boat Missions expansion.) uPlay turned that one-off decision into a boycott for me. I will make a sole exception, eventually, for
From Dust, since Ubisoft got caught in a lie about the DRM on that game, and were forced to remove it.
The sad thing is, though, the 1.4 patch for
Silent Hunter IV removed the game's DRM (SecuROM and FADE, though FADE could not be fully extricated from the game's code, even by Ubisoft themselves), and those of us in the subsim community thought that it was a bright, new day, with Ubisoft turning over a new leaf. Then, the next bug-fix patch came with a price tag, and the next sequel in the franchise came with uPlay.
