Hello everybody.
After some deep thought, I have decided that I would try to get support for creating a "Freespace 3" as a mod for Freespace users to play.
I have been making plans for a couple things so far, such as what kind of new ships would appear and plotline, like should we fight the Shivans again or bring in a new faction.

Might this be a good idea?

Also please tell me if this idea is already out there.
I tried to search "freespace 3" but i must have 2 characters in each word so i wasn't able to get results.

I dont see why not.
The only campaign/mod that has "freespace 3" on it so far is that search for bosch thing, and im not sure what that even was.
It is not something that would just pop out of the blue.
It would need some extensive time and work from a number of people.
Just thought it would be a good idea.

Not normally, no....................... Still. We must remember that since the days of shades of blue, and holy water flamethrowers, carl eating lunch in the vents, and Also_14 fighting Dark and Kalifreth in steam powered robo-arnour (that last one might not be true) that a whole new generation of FS fans have been born, matured, and learned to Fred.

FS3 is just a name..........

Every mod carrying on from the end of FS2 is an unofficial FS3. Some are popular (Blue Planet) (second great war part two) (Derelict)
Some are not..........

Just dive right in and make whatever you want to *ruffles hair playfully* go on, get stuck into Fred ^_^

Freespace 3 is a very thorny subject around here while many would like to see the game a number do not for perfectly valid reasons.  A community FS3 mod runs into additional problems, firstly a mod will never be considered part of FS canon (a situation I for one support), secondly there is a feeling by many here that if it is not made by it isn't canon.

Next there is the issue of Intellectual Property which has never been released by it's corporate owners (of which Interplay has some say) now there is some debate on how much of an issue this is but by calling the mod FS3 it does scream lightning rod to some of us.

The issue of FS3 comes up maybe once or twice a year, usually by a new member so dont feel too bad

Perhaps I will just come up with something right after the Capella Invasion Era and make work of that.

Also...
If I am to make a campaign, I would like it to be voice acted. I have noticed that any campaign that has voice acting just seems more alive than ones that do not.
Could i get other HLP users to kind of read scripts i give them, such as in mission messages, and put those into the campaign?

Now that is jumping the gun a bit. There is a voice acting forum, and there are a few other places where talent can be sourced. But you need a campaign first :/ at least.

generally voice acting tends to happen after a mod has released, the exceptions being a small number of mods which have a lot of momentum behind them.
