its probibly safer to hit a bear. moose a have a real habit of killing drivers/passengers.
You're probably right, actually. Most of the bear's mass is going to be lined up quite well with a passenger car's crumple zone, so that the car absorbs the impact the way its designed to do. Hitting a moose, the front end of the car just knocks away the legs, while the moose's torso stays largely stationary, until it encounters the car's windshield, where a car is not meant to take such a hit. Where hitting the bear is like hitting another car, hitting a moose is more like having another car dropped on top of your own. It's actually something that car manufacturers selling in the extreme northern latitudes have been trying to deal with for quite some time, with little success.
