I liked better the part when the Sathanas tried to hug me and then blew up when made first contact with my ship. It couldn't stand my alpha 1, it's understandable. That part was filled with mega-awesome. Although I heard there are other endings, something about a sun...

I thought he just meant seconds per frame...

In case you didn't know, low FPS (particularly if it's fractional) can reduce beam damage to silly values (because of how the game handles beams). That's the point of the joke.

Re: "Oh my God Katana, we're reading a massive incoming subspace transit..."
More specifically, whenever the framerate per second gets lower than 5.88, or compress time above 8x or 16x, beams will inflict reduced damage.

Breakdown of my responses through DE's ending:

'Yeehaw!  We got 'er!'
'Wait, I've got a bad feeling about this...'
*Sees message*
'No... oh dear f**king lord no...'
*Imperieuse arrives*
'FFUUUUUUUU FINE I'LL KILL YOU TOO!'
*Some seconds after I check my secondary stores and I notice my battlegroup has turned and fled*

I felt like I'd been kicked in the nuts and had my lunch money stolen. Steele is a magnificent bastard, AND SO ARE YOU, BP DEVS!

Seriously, though - powerful emotional moments are few and far between in gaming. I fiddled while Rome burned, if you will, just staring at the screen. Half of me wanted to cry, the other half wanted to laugh in a bitter, bitter way.

That image is great...

Especially since I've caught myself doing that same yell a couple times when thinking about BP.
