[SOLVED] Cardinal Spear: crash at first mission start
Hi everyone, I am quite new to FreeSpace in general and this is my first post.
I cannot start the Cardinal Spear campaign as the game freezes when starting it, meaning that I don't even get to the briefing.

-mod fsport-mediavps,cardinalspear,fsport-mediavps,fsport,MediaVPs_3612fsport-mediavps are loaded twice, which can cause all sorts of problems. Please check you haven't any -mod entry in the Custom Flags entry of your launcher and that the mod.ini of Cardinal Spear is correct.

I don't see any crash-related entry in your log. Did you really play with debug build until the crash ?
People are stupid, therefore anything popular is at best suspicious.

Maybe I shouldn't have said crash. It is a freeze, on the loading screen of the campaign, when only one "light" is on. I will also correct the original post. Since I read that the loaded mods are defined in the mod.ini, could anyone attach a working cardinal spear mod.ini?

Also, a long pause at the loading screen can be caused by the game creating cache files for models.  How long have you let it sit at that screen?

A proper mod.ini for Cardinal Spear can be found here. Read that post first since you will need to make a small change to that file.

Ok. Solved. Caching of the planets was the "problem".
