Go to www.space.com They got some good info on it and one previous near misses too. Hmm, it was said that the one that exploded above Tunguska Siberia was around that size too! And it wiped out thousands of acres of forests, and lit up the sky for a couple of minutes. Nice to know that theres still a possibility of total anihilation other than nuclear war. :D
I have returned... Again...

This is most likely a result of lack of funding.  We still have very limited tracking abilities across the planet and we should have something in place.

They cant seem to get enough of this pic can they? I mean, the rock was only a football field in size, but this one smacking into the Earth is half the size of the moon! It kinda over exaggerates the whole thing... :D
I have returned... Again...

All these close encounters...
.... yet not one government or corporation will have the desire to increase funding to any of the spacewatch programs to help track these things down.

Anyone read the Arthur C. Clarke book Rendezvous with Rama? The introduction's a fine example of what happens when you don't pay attention :(

And the third book is a fine example of what happens as a consequence of this degenerate inclination...

Heheh.
*strokes graviton bomb controls menacingly*

Apparently that's how the moon got up there in the first place. A big-ass moon-like rock hit a bigger-ass primordial Earth and the explosion spawned the Earth and Moon.

that football size thing was scary, but yesterday i heard on the radio that the white house security got quite a scare a few days ago, because a plane flew over it or something which was supposed to be a 'no-fly-zone' and all...apparently it was just an innocent pilot who took the wrong flight path or something, and he just kept on flying past the white house, but what was even more scary, is that they said they scrambled a few F-16s at the nearest air base, and by the time the F16s had intercepted the plane, it was MILES past the white house, meaning that if it had meant to do damage, the damage would have been done long ago!
apparently they have weapons on top of the white house or some backup plan or something, but still, that makes you wonder about their 'security'.  i hope they really do get it more secure!

Why the **** does nothing every just kill us all? I mean, is it some much to ask for just one huge rock to rain firey/shockwave death upon us?
