Crash in mission c3:06
Hi there. Can you help me with this bug, please?

In the mission c3:06 The Defence, FS2open always crashes just as the Ascendant Fury appears.

I have run the mission on the following Windows builds: r9292, r9478, r9474, with the same result in each. If I run a debug build, FS2open will crash while the mission loads, with the following message:

Code: [Select]
Invalid subobj_num or model_num in subsystem 'turret08' on ship type 'Asteroid Station'.
Not linking into ship!

(This warning means that a subsystem was present in the table entry and not present in the model
it should probably be removed from the table or added to the model.)

Re: Crash in mission c3:06
Isn't that just a warning? You should be able to skip it and proceed to the actual mission. I don't think it's related to the crash, but I might be wrong.

Re: Crash in mission c3:06
Using a debug build, I can't even get as far as the point in the mission where the crash occurs.

While loading the mission, about five error messages pop up, mentioning missing assets. I can skip some of the warnings by clicking 'No'.

If I run r9474, FS2 crashes while loading the mission and gives the folloiwng message:
http://pastebin.com/F6fs0GTR

If I try to use r9292 debug, the game crashes on the weapon select screen with no error popup, but the following debug log:

http://pastebin.com/BhmspBTs

If I skip weapon select with r9292 and commit straight from the briefing, I can start the mission, but the game crashes soon with the following message:

http://pastebin.com/kgEvBjdY

and the following debug log:

http://pastebin.com/yBFX5HYc

Is there a build that is known to work with Dimensional Eclipse?

Re: Crash in mission c3:06
Seems the error is a result of the afterburner sound being in stereo.

...Huh? Get me a SCP member why it *needs* to be in mono.

Re: Crash in mission c3:06
I can confirm this same bug just happened to me. Mission goes fine and then as soon as the Fury jumps in, crash to desktop. Using the latest nightly build, have all the patches and updates installed.

I'm also having a crash on the start of Scattered Embers, Fukayze says some dialog and again, CTD.

Re: Crash in mission c3:06
I will third this error. It happens pretty much consistently. Mission goes fine, then the capship jumps in and instant CTD.

I've used about ten different builds on this mission, debug and otherwise, and the only one that it doesn't happen on is 3.6.13-INF-r7776.   Even occurs on 3.6.16, which up to this point had fewer errors than even the "author-recommended" builds in the release thread.

And before anyone asks for a debug build, the debug builds NEVER get that far in the mission. They always crash before it.

Is there a build that is known to work with Dimensional Eclipse?

r7776 seems to work best, but it's still not error-free. AFAIK, there are no builds that run DE without any errors.

Re: Crash in mission c3:06
This is more or less the same error as I get in stronghold. On another playthrough skipping chapter 2, I have ran into CTD difficulties in both C3:7 & c3:9.

C3:8 is so insanely difficult as stealth missions go that I didn't bother playing that either :-S

So want to enjoy this mod at it's full but have we got any idea at all what we can do to get it stable?

Re: Crash in mission c3:06
Are you using 1.1?

It should be far more stable (and easier). If AndrewofDoom didn't mess anything up, that is. :P

Re: Crash in mission c3:06
I'm afraid so, yes, I'm on FSO 3.6.18 (and tried older versions for completeness), DE 1.1, plus also tried the commns ani patch that was suggested elsewhere.

Re: Crash in mission c3:06
well idk then, all the crashes/errors reported should have been fixed for 1.1
"More or less the same", gonna need a debug log.

I've been having the same problem, but I managed to get a debug log of it.

Re: Crash in mission c3:06
I've come up with a DIY solution to this problem here: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=84642.msg1739580#msg1739580

It works on version 1.0 of the mod with the HUD patch installed, but if you never did get past this mission and you still want to, now you should be able to.

Hope it helps!
