Can the GTVA still win the war? (Warning: possible SPOILERS)

There may be spoilers in this thread.  So if you don't want to know anything about the latest WIH release before playing, it's advisable to leave.

Some info up front:  My computer can't play the newest FS mods so the only way I can follow the latest FS stories is by watching Youtube playthroughs and reading the wiki and these forums.

It's been interesting following BP so far (AOA and WIH).  As a GTVA/Tev supporter, I'm curious (since like I said before, I won't be able to play this new WIH release, Tenebra, for a long while), as of the end of this latest release, do you think the GTVA still stands a realistic chance at winning the war?

I had permission from Battuta to post this fyi.

If it's still possible for the GTVA to win the war, what do you think they should do militarily/politically?

(This thread may serve as a 'GTVA strategy part 2' thread and the other one may therefore fall by the wayside.  We'll see what the community thinks).

Well, as it is they *are* winning, from what we've been presented. The real question comes down to, was it worth the cost, and will they get all the goodie infrastructure they wanted out of the deal. Otherwise they semi-avert a civil war. They can take Earth, it just comes down to how many ships they commit, and how many holes they'd have to blow in the crust to get the Sol government to cave. There is a point that they would, it's just a question of when and how much lives they are willing to sacrifice. They could have the whole pie if they were willing to wait, but they aren't.

Personally, as a supporter of the other side, I'm kinda curious how the Pro-GTVA side seems to be the default on the forum - at least from what I've read. Is part of that nostalgia from the original games? I admit, I just can't stand the 'command talking head' guy, so maybe that's coloring things a bit.

Strike that first part - just realized that act 3 had been released. I guess I should get around to playing that before commenting.

The odds are not good :|

And, the Tevs don't trust the Vishnans. I don't trust the Vishnans. Our goals align.

So is there any hope left for us Tev/GTVA supporters?

Plenty: the way the wind is blowing a Fedayeen/3fleet alliance with the Tevs is distinctly possible, at least in the short term. Long-term? It's hard to say without understanding Universal Truth, and I don't have the temperament to try that.

I think the GTVA might be amenable to peace with the Jovians.

It probably depends on what the Shivans' way out is.

ACT 3 ENDING SPOILERS
Spoiler:
I dunno, the ending implies that the 3rd Fleet's new champion will definitely not allow that, too many axes to grind.

More likely that the 3rd fleet will form into a NTF-like splinter group

Re: Can the GTVA still win the war? (Warning: possible SPOILERS)
Laporte seems to have no intention of giving up her blood feud with the GTVA. And the greater issue is the GTVA will not be allowed to win, nor will the UEF.

Spoiler:
If their Unbutu pawns folds, the Vishnans will issue a kill order on the human race to the Shivans. If the UEF 'wins' on very specific, direct orders from Shivans, humanity *might* and I emphasis might, be given a reprieve. The issue seems to be walking the line between the logic coding of two vast, alien intelligences that have no interest beyond using their pawns to achieve their ends. If there's a way to squirm out of their control, threats of genocide, or manipulation, it doesn't seem to be clear.

Considering some of the objections raised in this thread, I agree that an actual alliance is unlikely. However, neither side are stupid, and they both want to stop Shambhala. Limited cooperation is surely an acceptable compromise for the Jovayeen.
