Clint Mansell and Kronos Quartet - Summer Overture (Requiem for a Dream soundtrack)

A number of people seem to think it was written by Mozart. :banghead: Apparently, the electronic sounds didn't tip them off.

I picked out the part that starts at around 0:17 and played along using vmpk backed by SimpleSynth. Then I could pretend I was accompanying the Kronos Quartet! :D :o Kind of like Guitar Hero, I guess.

Appropriately, the headline in today's paper.

Soundgarden! Hooray!

Badmotorfinger is a good album, but it takes a certain mentality to deal with the excessive screaming that tends to populate the ends of many otherwise fantastic songs. Still, it's an awesome abum.

I still need to grab their first two full albums, "Ultramega OK" and "Loud Love." Both of those albums are better than Badmotorfinger in my opinion, and I think if Ultramega OK was of better recording quality, you'd hear a lot more of that stuff more than otherwise. Unfortunately, "otherwise" seems to mean nothing at all with respect to the radio. I think I'd jizz in my pants if I ever heard "Beyond the Wheel" on the radio.

I still contend that Superunknown is the best album they ever did. I know a lot of people seem to think Down on the Upside which followed afterwards was a step in a further progrssive direction (and Soundgarden was definately an experimental band in many regards), but I also think in many regards it lost that level of lyrical depth that was in much of their previous work. Maybe the angst was dying off?

...Needless to say, King Animal hasn't been able to hold my attention, and being described as picking up where Down on the Upside left off... well, there's no wonder why it hasn't held my attention.

that one isn't strictly new.  i've had a low-quality mp3 version of it for a while, and the biggest hits from it for practically forever.  van halen is one of my go-to bands.

soundgarden was bought almost completely on a whim.  the only songs i've even heard by them (that i know are them anyway) are black hole sun and outshined (and this one only because it is in rocksmith).  oh, and that new single they had out not too long ago, but i don't even remember its name.  many many years ago, when i was opposed to grunge on principle (that was nirvana's fault) i heard black hole sun and liked it alright, and investigated a few more songs.  nothing seemed very good then so i wrote them off as another crap angsty band riding the grunge wave.  i got this album because it was on the $5 value rack, the only soundgarden one they had, and i recognized it as the one with outshined on it.
