Needing information about flight/joystick-set what are compatible with Freespace, so i decided to make a new thread about this.(hopefully in the right place) I would prefer flight-stick set. So you guys tell me what set you are using and what would be the best set up nowadays. please PM

AFIAK is this stick detected as 3 different input devices: Stick, Throttle an Pedals. But FS only supports one input device.
A workaround would to use Joy2key or some other tool to map the Throttle & Pedal axis to a virtual stick.

The only good joystick used to be Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro. But it hasn't been manufactured since late 90's. It is shameful that no stick has yet beaten the legendary PP from '95. Not going to even mention those HOTAS setups that are mostly useful to flight sim buffoons only.

A PP in mind condition would be worth its weight in gold.

Wait, seriously? I got one for Christmas back in 2000. I've been leaving it on the floor overnight, figuring that if a cat chews the cable I can use it as an excuse to upgrade. I had no idea it was that good.

Yes, seriously. On the downside, PP's were prone to build up static charge, messing with its electronics. On the upside, the PP used light sensors instead of potentiometers, which made it so good. There have been only few optical joysticks in the market between then and now, each and every one of those other sticks had worse quality optical sensors. Making the PP, FFP, PP2 and FF2 kings of optical joysticks to date.

I really wish there was a good quality joystick with good optical sensors in the market. I really don't know why optical sensors didn't make a breakthrough...

I wonder how well do CH Products sticks work for FSO, such as Flightstick Pro or F-16 Combat Stick 568. They are really expensive for sticks though.

Nonsense. My cat bit my headphone cable clean in half on the same day that Tenebra was released. It tried to run off with it too. I guess it looked like a toy.

I have a CH setup (Fighter stick, throttle, and pedals) and it's phenomenal. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to appreciate the difference between the CH stick and the X52 I had before and it would just feel like a waste of money, but I've found it to be noticeably better.

Yeah, not going to buy all of that stuff though. Way too expensive and I can't justify that kind of price tag when I hardly ever play FSO anymore. It's just a shame that while I have two Saitek joysticks in my closet, they don't have the "feel" I long for.
