So in theory... you could put a human head on top of that thing and it would be kept alive?
(I.e. ... what do they actually mean by "synthetic blood"? Is that just some fluid used to showcase or actual blood and do they have artificial lungs that work?)

Minus all sensation from nerves no one would really consider it of course, but still... spooky ;)

I'm not sure how much this tech can do, but we can read and transmit sensations directly to nerves to some extent. IIRC, it's used in top quality artificial limbs.
