Moderation conflict (split from WoD review)
It's also definitely not FreeSpace. Everything works differently (unlike a certain "radical" campaign by TopAce...)

Absolutely unnecessary. What do any of TopAce's campaigns have to do with this post? Did you add anything to the discussion by bringing them up just to diss them?

Re: Re: Review of Wings of Dawn [SPOILERS]
Well I guess the thing about Descendants of Sol was very...ill worded, to say the least. I had a ****ty day at work today with coworkers whom I do not get along with at all, and had a memory of DoS while writing this review, and DoS was a campaign whose themes and delivery actually made me angry when I played it, so sorry if I went too far.

I'll still hold up Descendants of Sol as an example of a campaign that totally failed in creating a new setting (the resulting setting was dreary, ugly, and made me feel worse experiencing it) and breaking the FreeSpace mold (it was late-game FS1 with a very, very thin coat of new paint) in all the ways WoD was a complete success, though. If I didn't have such a strongly negative visceral reaction to playing DoS I probably would've written an exhaustive and objective post-mortem on it and all the ways it fell short while WoD did it right but I do, so I won't. :blah:

I feel like we can find ways to say positive things about community work without putting down other hard working community members.

Use the search function like I did, it works like MAGIC (insert Steve Jobs' handwave). The thread is hilariously sad. The in-game dialogue posted is highly recommended (I loled)

What is it they say? Even bad publicity is good publicity? :)

Re: Re: Review of Wings of Dawn [SPOILERS]
Black Wolf, your behavior bothers me immensely for the following reasons.
Woolie writes a long and pretty good review, yet you choose to completely ignore that and focus on making a big fuzz (drama even?) out of something completely insignificant. Woolie is entitled to his opinion about whatever campaign. That includes DoS. You proceed to drag the whole thread off topic by continued focus on this drama that you want to create. Even going so far as to issue a warning to Woolie for... having an opinion. And ultimately you decide that the whole thread should be locked... for what exactly?

I kindly request that for the future you:
1. Stay out of the WoD forum when it comes to moderating. Every time you've posted in here its only to create a scene while you contribute nothing to whatever ungoing discussion. This is unwanted. I will do whatever moderating I feel is necessary, and with the low amount of activity this forum has, I do not require your help.
2. When you do decide to post, please make it relevant to the topic at hand.
3. Do not create unnecessary drama out of nothing.

Thank you.

Now this thread will continue being about Woolie's review and not about this single line pertaining to DoS.

(That goes for you too, Battuta. Don't add unnecessary fuel to the drama fire)

I don't care how long or good the post is. The DoS stuff caused enough trouble when it started, a fact that Woolie is well aware of. Bringing it back up again in an unrelated thread was uncalled for, and he should be aware of that. What was it going to do except piss of TopAce? How did it improve this thread or this forum?
The warning was because that kind of behaviour is not the kind we want at HLP, and was a consequence free way to ensure he'll remember not to do it again.

The lock was because it was obvious to me that in fact:
Quote
Now this thread will continue being about Woolie's review and not about this single line pertaining to DoS.

was patently untrue. If this thread had "continued" to be anything, it would have been a descent into the DoS mess. In case you haven't read the entire thing, have a look - only two replies are about the review, the rest are about the DoS snarkiness, which should never have been posted in the first place. I couldn't exactly splitlock the first post of a thread, so the whole thing got locked and should have remained that way. Woolie could very easily have reposted his review in an open thread without the unnecessary opening of old arguments.

I kindly request that for the future you:

3. Do not create unnecessary drama out of nothing.

Your request is taken under advisement, and refused. I also suggest you actually check my posts in this forum. You'll find that they are few, and rarely create drama.

Now, I'm going to leave this open because, frankly, I'm about to go to bed and you'd only unlock it anyway. We obviously need an impartial mediator on this.

Re: Re: Review of Wings of Dawn [SPOILERS]
maybe woolie shouldn't have included a completely unnecessary and pointed jibe at a fellow campaign designer in a review of a totally unrelated mod...
The good Christian should beware of mathematicians, and all those who make empty prophecies. The danger already exists that the mathematicians have made a covenant with the devil to darken the spirit and to confine man in the bonds of Hell.

Re: Moderation conflict (split from WoD review)
This conflict is being discussed elsewhere, so I've split and locked the posts that aren't relevant to the review discussion.

To remove any ambiguity, it should be stated that global moderators outrank standard moderators.  Black Wolf was justified in citing his concern about DoS.
