Not sure if this is the right board, because this is a level design question and not a technical one.

I recently lowered the difficulty in one of Eos's missions because it had a ton of dialogue added on and was unfairly difficult before. This got me thinking about a subject that until now I hadn't really considered.

Does a mod need a difficulty curve like a regular game does? I'd previously assumed it doesn't because the player already knows the basic gameplay pretty well, but now I'm not so sure.

Generally I would think so. Even if the mod is set in the FS universe, the player still needs to ease into whatever story and enemies you've got. If it's not, or if you plan to introduce any more gameplay mechanics, then you might want to ease into that too.
