right so i originally downloaded BP: AoA and WiH about a year ago. amazing mod. i had to stop playing the mod due to other things, but I'm trying to get back into it. i had some issues getting it to start in that i forgot how to start it up (its been a year, after all), so i figured id start from scratch.
fresh install of everything. FS2 vanilla, FSOpen 3.6.12 and 3.6.18, BP complete, and all the Media 3.6.12 files including the optionals
i go to start up the mod, and that doesn't work
i download the compatibility pack and the latest nightly, 3.6.19, as directed.
it starts up, but then it says that there are 90 error/warnings. among which are the lack of meshes on any of the craft in the tech room, or the opening cut-scene of AoA, or the star-field of said scene.
my tech specs.
laptop
4gbs of ram, i7 M620, Win7 Pro 64-bit, ATI Radion Mobility HD 5650 vid card,  GoG install for FS2.

BP2 gives me a similar error, but with even more error/warnings.

oh, and i made sure that the entire folder is in the ignore list of my anti-virus programs

i followed the directives to the letter, and now the game will not start

Ah. Here's the thing: The BP builds contain a new version of the rendering code, and BP is built to take advantage of it. Unfortunately, that also means that it is incompatible with standard FSO builds (like the nightlies or the 3.7 RC), unless the compatibility VPs are used. If the compatibility VPs are not present, the BP builds from the BP build repository MUST be used.

ok, so this has gotten stranger. on a hunch, i went back to my back-up copy of FSOpen and everything else included that i made before i tried downloading all the latest versions of everything.
that seems to work fine.
i also noticed 2 other things.
i was using launcher 5.5f for the old copy, and 5.5g for the new copy, and the MVEs were in their original, stock, retail places.
all the textures are in place.
im going to make a back up of this, and using the original backup, im going to try to merge the new, updated BP files.

ok, that didnt work.

right then, so now, strangely enough, my original backup works now, just ran through AoA with only minor issues pertaining to load times. i can safely assume that the chapters i have of WiH in that folder (up until SPOLIER: you wand the war-gods are "sun-bathing"
highlight that last bit. dont want to spoil the surprise to new players.
is there a way i can just get the existing material after that part, just the files themselves so i can cry tears of joy when im playing the new (for me) chapter

None of that should've been necessary. The builds The_E suggested (from here) http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=83318.0 should've fixed your problem.
