Re: Or install MV_ ... ?
Sorry, I'm not sure I completely understand.

To install the 3.6.12 MediaVPs you need to download and unzip many different files from this thread:
http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=70736.0

MediaVPs_3612.zip
MV_Root_3612.zip
MV_Root_Update.zip
MV_Music_3612.zip
MV_Assets_3612.zip
MV_Assets_Update.zip
MV_Effects_3612.zip
MV_Effects_Update.zip

The other files are optional, I'd recommend getting them all if you have a reasonable powerful computer:

MV_Advanced_3612.zip
MV_AnimGlows_3612.zip
MV_RadarIcons_3612.zip
MV_CB_ANI_1.7z
MV_CB_ANI_2.7z

Re: Or install MV_ ... ?
All the files should be unzipped in your base freespace2 directory.  This will create a directory called "mediavps_3612" and put all the files in this directory.
