Amazing.

How many of you as a child, or maybe even after that, dreamed of being able to fly? This man has turned that dream into reality.

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

You sure you can afford that? :)

The dream of flying is powerful. I know someone who at 3 years old got his first glimpse of Superman, and promptly went to the top of the stairs, stuck his fist out in front of him and jumped...

Fortunately he was uninjured on his trip down to the bottom of the stairs.

I wonder how much stress flying that fast puts on head, neck and shoulders. I also wonder whether this guy shows up on planes radars, since I doubt he has one himself.

I wonder if it might be akin to that of a skydive?

Re: Swiss 'Jetman' soars at 190mph
Skydiver's velocity in free-fall is only up to about 122mph (195km/h). Free-fall also usually lasts only seconds compared to this guy flying at 190mph minutes, if not even longer.

I've heard you can hit 150mph on a skydive. 122mph is quite a precise figure, I wonder where it came from.

But yes, you're right, the main point is a skydive won't last anything like as long as this man's flight. It's an interesting consideration.

Terminal velocity for humans in Earth atmosphere at skydiving heights is about 120 mph. You can't fall faster without outside assistance.

Commercial radar pings the plane to squawk, it doesn't actually "see" aircraft, it sees the pulse they emit when pinged. This guy is probably completely invisible.

Ah, I see. I just googled it. This is what I was thinking about:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_skydiving

It seems under those circumstances, 150mph is tame.

Unless he has the equipment to emit the pulse on ping. I have no idea how big such equipment is and whether he could power it. Colliding mid-air with a plane would suck just as much as falling down.

I guess he cannot go faster without risking some air current breaking his bones or something when turning, or am I underestimating human body resilience?
