I'm curious to hear first (or if you know people there, second) accounts from people in Greece or have recently visited Greece in regards to what's happening over there. The reason is that I found a interesting interview with a Greek man that seems to suggest some pretty disheartening things are happening there as of late.

I hope things are better in Greece than is suggested in this interview and in other news items that have been published about it's troubles throughout the past years.

Pretty interesting video, though I didn't finish it. He comes across as pretty reasonable for the first half (or 1/3) of the video, but I stopped watching after that. After that he starts talking about how the government is using chemtrails and poisoning the water supply to keep the people docile.

For those who didn't watch it, I'll try to sum it up based on the first 10 minutes or so that I saw:
-Immigrants from the Middle-East are flooding the country, though he says that this isn't a bad thing.

-Many immigrants, from both the Middle East and Europe alike, have brought a great deal of gang violence to Greece.

-Other European countries refuse to allow the immigrants into their countries.

-Some political parties, such as Golden Dawn, are trying to blame all immigrants for the violence, when only some of them are the problem (according to the interviewee).

-Greece's strict gun and self-defense laws make it difficult for families to defend themselves against gangs.

-The United Nations may intervene under Agenda 21 to bring "stability" to Greece.

-The government is trying to keep the population docile by using chemicals, spread through both the water supply and chemtrails.

Let me guess, you didn't watch the video and are assuming that I put a twist on what the Greek man said to further my own agenda? Wrong. Actually watch the video, he argues that Greece needs more lenient gun and self-defense laws, castle doctrine in particular.

This has nothing to do with my personal views, I was merely relaying what was said in the video. Try watching the video next time.

I admit that I agree with his assessment in that regard, but that is irrelevant. I merely outlined what the man said in the video, which is relevant to this thread.

Just curious, but are conspiracy theorists like this guy [in JCDNWarrior's video] common in Europe? I know they're very common here.

One of my close friends believes 9/11 was an inside job. Another friend's entire family (her included) believe that the Sandy Hook massacre never happened, or that if it did happen, then it was orchestrated by the government. At least three of my co-workers believe in the Illiminati. And almost all of my co-workers at my previous job (Walmart) were 9/11 "truthers."

I cannot speak for other people's experiences, but I find them very rare in terms of Europe. Though obviously I would have limited experience outside of my country, the UK. I'm actually very surprised at the volume you describe.

EDIT: I have a friend in the US who believes 9/11 was an inside job. I don't, and we had long but friendly arguments about it.

I can't speak for all of europe, of course, but I think the portion of the population inclined to go into conspiracytown is pretty much the same.
It's the narratives that differ, however. Less chemtrails and black helicopters and more evil spy service dealings by americans.

Yeah but before Kennedy, no one put much stock in conspiracies. Kennedy was one of the first big, believable ones.

Even if you believe the official explanation, it's hard to deny that the stuff surrounding the assassination does a real good job of making it look like there was a conspiracy.

Some conspiracy theories do have some roots in facts. The governments really are doing a lot of things which aren't known to general public. For example, the first "Flying Saucer" stories were about American/Soviet secret spy/nuclear bomber aircraft. We now know that many of them were probably right, since there was a lot of this stuff (mostly experimental planes) flying around, this being Cold War afterall. Who know what we'll find out 50 years from now. Heck, even the recent Snowden's revelations have shown a lot of "government is watching us" theories to be true (though I guess many people suspected this anyway). Also, Lincoln's assassination was a conspiracy, just a small and poorly executed one.
