The one thing I do know thats missing is motion-blur. I'd forgotten all about it until I was finished. I couldn't add it because the Mara is part of the background layer, this is because Axion lens flare (for the engines) won't work on layers except the main one

Actually there's a simple way around that... make another layer, make it pure black, and above the other layers... use the Axion Flare on that layer and put it where you want. Then set the layer properties to "Screen" and there you go.
