UFO: Enemy Unknown - Where and how?
Hi there,

I have been itching to play the original UFO: Enemy Unknown for awhile now, but I have honestly no idea where to get it - if any mods exist that fix bugs, and all that jazz. Can someone give me the right pointers?

It's more commonly known as X-COM and you can get it on Steam for £cheap.
The good Christian should beware of mathematicians, and all those who make empty prophecies. The danger already exists that the mathematicians have made a covenant with the devil to darken the spirit and to confine man in the bonds of Hell.

Also Good Old Games (GOG).

It's, suprisingly, not on GoG, which is why I asked here. That it is on steam, however, does suprise me in equal measure.
But oh well.

Is openXcom any good?

Re: UFO: Enemy Unknown - Where and how?
I can recommend OpenXCom. It fixes  a whole bunch of bugs from the original game while adding some nice additional features. Most of them do not affect gameplay, but this is debatable. Though I'm no purist and find the new features quite useful.
You'll need the original game in order to use OXC. You can get it for 1,24€ on Steam at the moment.

XComUtil is also worth looking into if you just want bugfixes while retaining the original experience.

I actually hadn't realized OXC was feature complete until now. Last time I tried it, it was still a hot mess of half the game. I'm definitely going to have to check it out, especially for modding purposes hopefully.

From my experience now by playing OpenXCOM, OpenXCOM does that too - the gameplay changing features are all optional.
Some of htem are very interesting though, such as the "Sneaky AI".

Oh yes, very much so. Indirect fire and smoke grenades become your friend. Moreso then the original.
