Proposal for a coding convention
Hi guys! I'm a Linux user and Linux is case sensitive, that means if the system is looking for a file named e.g. "Model1" and the only existing file is "model1", it won't find it. So when if the code is not perfectly consistent with the files' naming, Linux goes nuts!  :(

So I want to propose to adopt the following coding convention: "every folder/file's name in our mods (whatever they are, from ships to scripts or campaigns) must be written in lower-case".

Do you agree?

Re: Proposal for a coding convention
To be honest, what you're asking is more of a modding convention than a coding convention :)  And I know that FSO on Linux already treats many files as case insensitive (e.g. directories packed in VPs).  It's on my "long term task list" to add case insensitivity where it doesn't already exist.

I know that loose folders are not case insensitive yet, could you provide details of the problem that you've found so that I can add it to my TOFIX list?

Problems in loading "dawn of sol" campaign (or similar). The debugger said it couldn't find the file "model1" and when I checked through Vpmage i found it was written "Model1" and I assumed the issue was case sensitiveness (but I may be wrong..). I cannot be more precise for now because the log is stored in my home computer, and I'm away now. As soon as I get back home, I'll try to retrieve it....

BILLY MAYS HERE, WITH NEW AND IMPROVED CAPITAL LETTERS!

I'm still disappointed the admins didn't agree to my Billy Mays Day idea (where the forums would display all posts in all-caps on the anniversary of his passing).

Great idea, except for the fact that nobody outside the US knows who Billy Mays is. :p
