I have had several technical problems with this campaign.  On the first mission there is supposed to be a Scimitar heavy bomber for Beta 1 but I have just an Ulysses.  There are several other missions I've played through where cruisers are Ulysses. 

I believe it was the fourth mission where I'm in an Artemis and I'm supposed to be equipped with a long range torpedo to attack a freighter convoy but I have Hornets in my bank instead (and in that mission loadout was supposed to be configured for you). 

I've tried this campaign with a number of different builds.  The one the log is for is 3.7

Well I assume either the mod is malformed or you're missing components (be it either VPs for this mod or entire mod dependancies).

Having a ship replaced by the defined default ship (in the case of retail-based mods, the Ulysses) is the expected behaviour when the engine cannot find a ship. And from your log, it cannot find some weapons as well.

Thanks for the help.  I put ch.2's VP into ch.3's folder and ch.3 works now without major problems.  Thank you all.
