Babylon 5 Server problems
Downloaded Babylon 5 from URL: http://ifhgame.ru/main/download.php  I am using Windows 7 64 bit system.

Game downloaded, did update, then downloaded mods all no problem.

game seems to play ok, HOWEVER; yepo here comes the "But".

When I try to host a game no one can connect to me.

Is there something special I need ot do?
I have already placed the EXE File as trusted in my antivirus settings and have the EXE set to run as admin as well. Still nothing.

tried UDP settings for:
7808
9987
and the original default UDP forget what it was and still nothing.

Yes I have verified and double checked the IP as well.

I am no modder nor programmer, know little to a nats ass about such.

So instructions in easy to understand baby talk please if possible.

many thanks any and all help would be grateful I have an entire guild waiting for me to figure out what the problem is.

Re: Babylon 5 Server problems
You could of course try our own Babylon 5 game, The Babylon Project as well.

7808 would be the port you needed to forward for TBP not IFH. So it sounds like you might have been following the wrong guide.

Re: Babylon 5 Server problems
I have the babylon 5 was the first one I got actually but was unable to get it as well to allow access to my guildies for server.
I know Nadda about this stuff, I am basically what you would call an end user, so instructions in baby steps would be most welcomed.
For the babylon 5 I have found her project. Or is that the wrong one still?

We'd be more than happy to talk you through getting The Babylon Project working for multiplayer. We can't really help with Babylon 5 : I've Found Her since this isn't a project that has anything to do with us and I even know if anyone here still plays it.

Re: Babylon 5 Server problems
I have downloaded yours as well. I am ismply trying to find one that will do what I need it for and that is the one I will stay with.
it is a Loyalty thing, Old School...

So downloaded the 3_4b and Zanthra

installed 3_4b no problems, but Zanthra has no instructions nor installer on where it all goes.

my TS3 server info is as follows

Addy: ts.guildhome.de:28018
password: noneshallpass

Look for Dark Uncle

if not in simply POKE me that you are there.
I am in Germany so consider the time differences.

My SKYPE is my posted email as well.

Re: Babylon 5 Server problems
Installing Zathras is very simple.

Step 1: Download the file (should be a .rar archive)
Step 2: Unpack that file using 7-zip or similar
Step 3: You should now have a directory named Zathras. Move it into the directory TBP is installed in.
Step 4: Go here: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=85435.0 Download the build appropriate for your system, unpack it, and place it in the TBP directory. In addition, you should download the Launcher. Again, unpack it, and place it in the TBP directory.
Step 5: Start the Launcher.exe. In the first tab, click on the "Browse" button and select one of the 3.7.0 builds. In the mod tab, Select the "Zathras" mod. Make other settings (Resolution etc) as necessary.

One more thing though. I get that you are "not an IT professional" and such. But please consider that we are not teachers either. We expect you to be able to handle stuff like unpacking archives and copying files and knowing what a "button" and a "tab" are. Installing new builds and mods on FSO is very easy, but these are the fundamental skills that you MUST have in order to do it.

Re: Babylon 5 Server problems
Yes I know basics however I find it is best to get as much information as possible LOL.

Now I have downloaded the files.

Unzipped and installed the game into The babylon project folder.
Unzipped the other two files and moved those folders in the the main TBP folder.
Zathras
and
fs2_open_3_7_0_NO-SSE

Do I move the files and subfolders directly into the TBP Folder or as I have currently done, placed the actual unzipped folders into the main TBP folder?

I currently have it as so,
C:\The Babylon Project\Zathras
AND
C:\The Babylon Project\fs2_open_3_7_0_NO-SSE

Re: Babylon 5 Server problems
I do have a TS3 server for private gaming and friends.
If it would make things run easier and faster via voice feel free ot log in and find me.
AKA: Dark Uncle

Address: ts.guildhome.de:28018
PW: noneshallpass

All case sensitive.

Thanks for all the help to date.

PS I have also noticed there seems ot be no indicator or selector to use a mouse instead of a joystick.
Due to certain Physical problems use of a joystick is really not an option for me.
I use a special Trackball which runs on mouse drivers if you will.
So for basics how do I get it to swap to mouse use instead of joystick?

This is correct. (Although you should be able to use the SSE2 build, if your PC is less than 10 years old)

Re: Babylon 5 Server problems
Currently tried to run it and got debug errors popping up.
I tried to have it to continue running but it kept popping up the error so would not load game, tried to cancel and it simply closes the entire thing.

I am running a Nvidia 670 graphics card 4 gig on board, Intel core i7 3820 CPU processor and 16 gig ram
1 SSHD and 2X two terrabyte drives.

Why in my last post I gave you my TS3 server log in info. Figured it would speed things up.

Re: Babylon 5 Server problems
As I understood it below is the debug print out.
As a review I have done the following to date, just to make sure I am not missing something here.
Step one, Initiated open AL installed

step 2, Installed babylon project files to create game folder

Step 3, unzipped Zanthras file, placed folder and contents directly into the main folder.
F:\the babylon project\zanthras

Step 4, unzipped and placed entire folder of fs2_open_3_7_0 in to main TBP folder
F:\the babylon project\fs2_open_3_7_0
I went back and redid the entire thing using this file as you said beforehand.
total folder wipe total reinstall form scratch.

Step 5, started launcher set up graphics and such, also set up mod to be zanthras
ran game, initiated and got errors

It crashes with Error reports at that point. Since I am running WIndows 7 am I possibly missing a program or files form somewhere else perhaps???

This indicates that you may not be using the 3.7.0 executable.  In the launcher, select "fs2_open_3_7_0" as the executable.

ok no more erros until I get to the Multiplayer section.
I am on a DSL line, but I do not see that in the connection listings.
Suggested settings for the needed 2 options??

AH seemed to have found it
LAN / Direct Connection
and
Dual Channel ISDN Modem

That the optimum settings for me?

UMM I open Launcher, go to network.
Lower section.

If I am hosting do I even need to put any info in this location? IP & Port?

If so what Port number do I use for this?

If someone wants to enter my hosted game I take it they place the same port number I have designated and my IP address there correct? Before starting the game and selecting multiplayer..

You don't need to change the IP and Port whether you are client or server. You only use those settings if there is some reason why you need to change the port.

Re: Babylon 5 Server problems
the port shows as 0 and there is nothing in the IP listing tab.
Went to Wiki and an the setup they said there, go to Launcher
Select features
Select list type Multiplayer
Select Flag, Stand alone server

This seems to start a server but then I can not run the game it seems.

Really sorry for all of this bother I am really trying to figure it out alone as much as possible.

But there is SO much information out there and some of it seems to be written as if they already expect you to know it all form the git go.

So figured I am doing something wrong again somewhere in the process.
Again if it would be easier I am on in my TS3 server.
