After following all the recommendations from relevant threads, there is no sound to be experienced at all. The game's not even registering as open on the mixer.  :banghead:

Apologies for the log, I did have it on "Generic Software" in the audio section, was just playing around before I decided to generate the log.

You did not download the required update files; get them here. This probably is not the cause of your problem, but not having the update files can cause problems later on.

Now for your sound problem. I suggest trying OpenAL Soft. Instructions for installing it are in this post (skip to the paragraph that begins with "but no worries"). If that doesn't work, post another log (create it while using OpenAL Soft) and make sure that other programs have sound.

For me, having a no sound problem, re-installing OPENAL, then installing Soft, and then removing any trace of OpenAL dlls in the FS2 directory did the trick.
