Yeah, there isn't an easy way out except to not eat.
Which is why I'm a scrawny bastage.

Personally I blame America. They have a higher fat:bone rate than any other country in the world. Now if they merged with Etheopia it'd get to an acceptable level.

Obesity works like this.

1) You don't get enough exercise.  You eat too much of the wrong food.  You don't eat a balanced diet.  You binge eat.

2) You have a medical condition or you're just predisposed to building fat.

Fat people who are fat because they do stuff wrong I have little sympathy for.  If they do things right, they will loose that fat.  They may not be looking like Britany Spears but they will be healthier for it.

The ones who have the real problems with weight...and have to fight that all their lives I have alot more sympathy for.  They can work just as hard and not get nearly the results that they should be getting.  And I think there are now ways to cope with that....but in either case, action can be taken.

Diet foods aren't really the solution either.  I've had to cut any diet styled food anyways because the chemicals and me don't get along :D.  And im a bloody toothpick....so diet stuff isn't the way to go :)

The best way to lose weight is to join the army! My friend lost over 50kg after 6 months. AND THATS ALOT! All you do is exercise, eat the food they give you (which is quite a lot considering) and sleep. I was :jaw: when he came out. I dodn't even recognize him!

I voted other because the main culprit is the choices we make.  Plain and simple.  Even in studies done on older people, those that did not become inactive did not 'naturally' increase in propensity for weight gain.  The only exception is the aforementioned demographic with an inherent medical condition.

I essentially sit in a chair the whole day (I hate physical activity :D) but I eat very little, so the result is that I end up underweight. :D

I can't quite understand why people worry so much about this though. Who cares how fat or thin you are as long as your brain works well? :p

Yeah same here; all of the factors probably contribute to some extent.

Obesity is a serious health issue.  Most cases of diabetes and heart disease could have been avoided had the individual maintained exercise and good eating habits.

Quiet you

I think it is lack of excersize, but now that I have read the topic, I think I should have voted for 'other' because it is the choices we make. You can sit in a chair all day and not gain weight if you eat enough callories to equal the amound of callories that you spend sitting there typing meaningless posts and clicking on things.

Still, while that is quite true, I doubt that this is the main reason that people worry about the issue so much, seeing as everyone talks about "looking better" (whatever that means) by losing weight. :p

Lack of excercise.... if they (for example) cycle ~10km a day, in 3 day bursts with a day inbetween for rest, I bet they'd be fine
