Oh yeah, almost forgot my other amazing idea... A survival horror game that is also MOSTLY played ONLINE... You're a top notch recon team and/or normal scientific team stranded in a research base/arctic outpost/space station that has been infested by a hideous alien entity! Now this alien can infest people and take over their minds, slowly digesting them from the inside, however you can't tell them appart from anyone else. So anyway, you're team comprised of other players should basically survive in this creepy world which is filled with PITCH BLACK corridors, with hissing pipes and lovely 3d EAX 2 sourround sound. All the usual hooplah is added for effect, however, this isn't a FPS. Though you play it in that perspective. You don't go around killing legions of aliens. You just go around, doing small objectives like turning on the air valves, or restoring the electricity. And as you're alone with you're single flashlight you go around the base exploring, every now and then hearing a noise, a scream, and some squishy noises. :D And if you're unlucky enough, even encounter the alien itself.

Now this is where it gets cool in my oppinion. See all the characters are played by gamers. YES, even the alien. With all their own objectives and one single one, TO SURVIVE. As the humans, you can never be sure who to trust because if you send them out alone, the alien player can attack them and infest them, turning them onto their side, who will then be on that opposite side until the end of the game. So when they return they'll have to convince the other players that they are infact who they are and not infested. :D So a hell of alot of paranoia will come into play as the game progresses with more objectives coming up, splitting up the team more and more.

So think of this, you're friend just came back from simply turning back the electricity, suddenly the air shuts down, and the team needs to split up again. So you and her go to the air valve as the others tell you how to get there via the comms. So as you get there, you step over dead mutilated bodies as you're friend strikes up a conversation. Then she stops and you turn around to make sure nothing has happened. She looks at you for a while in that dark corridor... Then he head snaps backwards and forwards and splits open to produce this ****ing scary looking thing that attacks you. You get infested, and slowly you're vision changes and you are now part of the alien team. Muahahahahahaha.... :devilidea

I know this could produce alot of team killing, but it would be an atmospheric game. And scary as hell cause you're playing with real people, and they're the scariest of them all! Oh yeah, and all conversation would be over microphone. To make it more personal. Muahahahahahaaaa. :D :D
I have returned... Again...

Make some kind of physics game that's like a cross between Sim City and one of the sci-fi MMORPG's. You fly around space and strip mine planets, then you use the resources collected and subjugated races to build experimental weaponry that can blow up buildings, cities, continents or entire worlds. That'd be kinda fun. Especially if you had to switch to a FPS type thing to set-up the bomb and plant it somewhere.

Ok, lets say this ultimate game was made. Let's say that you could do basically anything in it. You could be a pro football star, or watch the game in the stands, you could fly ships, be a soldier, own Ma & Pa's grocery store or even be a city mayor... Many gaming engines will be put together to make the game and the game would have to be massively multiplayer. Let's say that you could also alter your appearance in every respect.

Ok, that's the setting, but... What happens if you die? You just get respawned? You character is completely killed? You can't have either of these. For the first issue, of course, there is no care factor involved... You want to kill the President and there's no way to come out alive... then that's ok coz you'll get respwaned a couple of seconds later. You die completely, and all that time you put into your character will be wasted and who would want to play a game like that? What we need is for some sort of care factor about your character, but not so much as to loose everything...

I had a theory of life insurance. You take out life insurance (paying a fee) and you could get respawned with your last skill ratings, etc. But I'm not sure that would work either. Any suggestions? Coz this is the biggest problems with today's MMORPG's (Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games).

I was having a little think last night... What if we had a powerful enough computer to make a special sort of game...

The universe is made up of rules like the laws of physics and such. It also has elements that can exist and interact with those rules such as hydrogen, etc. A game is no different. You have a series of rules and elements that can interact with those rules.

What if you could program all the known laws of physics (and such) onto a computer and code in all the elements that can exist and interact in those laws. Perhaps, in a sense, you could create your own universe on a computer... You would of course be the god because you could speed up time to watch how everything develops.

This would be a great experiment also. You could run simulations to see if, under the right conditions, life can form and how often, even sentient life. Surely if sentient life can form in this universe with all the rules and the like then it can be created inside this 'game'. Just something for you to thing about...

But you'd need a powerfull computer. Something like a quantum computer. We're not that far from creating one now. We're able to 'freeze' a laser beam and stuff, which is essential to forming a quantum computer. (A quantum computer is something that substitutes particles for processors and microchips, to my understanding...)

Do it like 6th Day, where you get cloned after death. Kick the player off the game for an hour everytime they die and respawn them at the cloning labs. You could have it so you could find illegal cloning facilities and respawn other places but there'd be a risk factor (like you'd loose a skill or some cash). Or you could make it sureal and have it so you had to fight your way out of hell (past cerberus etc) or plead to be reincarnated while in heaven.

And as for the computer universe thing, they've already done it on a small scale with real physics and you can play with DNA in games like Creatures. But to run a real universe in fast or real-time on a computer would be impossible logistically speaking. A processor uses billions of particles for each calculation and each atom in the computer universe need a calculation, so the processor would have to be several billion times bigger than any universe you created.

Some good suggestions. Except, the 'kick the player off the game for an hour' wouldn't be any good, at least if you wanted to make some money off the game. But I like the idea of fighting your way out of hell and stuff. Hehehe.

Hmmm. Never thought of that. Thanks.
Well, that's just spoiled everything... :doubt:

Although:
You could simulate the materials without simulating every particle. With some basic rules you could use blocks of compounds and elements and have the blocks react. Eg, instead of simulating trillion of Hydrogen atoms bonding with Oxygen atoms, you'd simply have 2.5X amount of Hydrogen meets X amount of Oxygen and have it put out X amount of water and 0.5X of Hydrogen. Do it by volumes and macroscopic reactions instead of per-particle with microscopic reactions.

Hmmm. Yeah that might work. Jeez. You have a powerful brain an0n.
My brain almost overloaded just thinking of the concept yesterday.

Be able to freeze real time so that time spent in the game is not wasted for real life (yes people, a computer isn't everything!). :D :D :D

You could also run the universe on a processor that was small than the universe but it would be proportionally slower. IE If the universe was 10 times bigger than the processor and used 1 billion partciles per calculation the  it's run 10 billion times slower than real time and 1 universe second would take 317 years, 35 days, 9 hours, 43 minutes and 12 seconds or thereabouts. So it'd be pretty slow.
