It's the 21st Century!
via Wil Wheaton's excellent twitter comes one of the most awesome pics of the year:

**** yeah 21st Century.
If I'm just aching this can't go on
I came from chasing dreams to feel alone
There must be changes, miss to feel strong
I really need lifе to touch me

At first I thought you were referring to the swords and how un-21st-century they were. Then I saw the dude kissing a dude.

It's actually been quite a while since DADT had been repealed. Good to see further progress on this issue.

If by "quite a while" you mean less than two years, and how by the Uniform Code of Military Justice that sodomy is still punishable by court martial.

Nobody seems to know about that last part.

The laws that are enforced are the ones that are remembered, I suppose. It could be a positive thing that no one remembers that, though it should not be in the books I agree. Perhaps our legal systems have become too bloated with age and should be prescribed a diet and exercise regimen? xD

I recall hearing about a system for that in some country a long time ago, where all laws would be read out annually and if one was ommited and noone pointed that out, it'd be removed from the books are unnecessary. Something like that should probably be in place in modern lawmaking. For example, if the law was not invoked for a certain period of time, the senate would be required to vote whether to keep it or not. That'd get rid of most of those silly, outdated laws that litter  the legal system.

interesting, what do yo do in a system with a common law / case law in place?  also how do you determine if a law hasn't been used?

Is Sodomy beside Rum & the Lash not one of the old naval traditions ?  ;)

Yeah. In the Navy, DADT repeal essentially meant you can now tell someone you're not gay. Not that anyone will believe it, this being the Navy afterall. :)
