And it's still pulling in new members too. I joined less than a year ago... in fact I didn't even own FreeSpace till last spring.

Wow.
Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move." - Captain America

Yeah, pretty much the same for me. I mean, I was given the Sim of the Year edition, and then I started to play it. I thought, wow. Then I found HLP. Thanks for the mods, the laughs, and the hilarious threads. Even when the first mod I try is Blue Planet: AoA, I love this place. Note; don't try BP for a first mod, it's a bit of a pain to get to work when you're new.

Oh, cool. Has it been redone to be compatible for the new 2014 Media VPs? Or are y'all waiting for the Erebus?

I think they're preparing for the release of act 4 now, but that could still take a good while to be finished.
The good Christian should beware of mathematicians, and all those who make empty prophecies. The danger already exists that the mathematicians have made a covenant with the devil to darken the spirit and to confine man in the bonds of Hell.

Hard to believe it's been 13 years since we started this place. I wonder how many of the old VBB peeps are still around.

Xenon too?  Everybody's crawling out of the woodwork lately.

I don't suppose you have any of the missions left over from Xanadu's Mission Archives, do you? :D

Oh gosh, I don't even know.  If I did, it would be on one of my old, old backups stored away somewhere.  I thought most of them made their way onto the Volitionwatch archives site though.

I've actually wanted to ask that for well over a decade myself, but he disappeared before I had the chance. I've always had my suspicions, but... Xenon, were you registered for the VBB (or was it VWBB?) as ZylonBane?

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

ZylonBane had his own account. Xenon's got a few posts in the administration forum from before you even registered. I remember him (vaguely) from the VBB but it's only really cause I have a habit of reading the oldest 2-3 posts in any forum I get access to later on that I know who he is.

VBB REP-RE-SENT y'all!  :v-old:

Good to see so many old faces stopping in, some I recognize and some I don't. While I'm primarily a lurker, it doesn't make me any less thankful for all HLP and its members have done for one of my favorite games of all time.  :)

I was around on the VBB for years and don't think I have ever seen you either. :p Looking at your handful of old posts here, this cracked me up:

Our priority is to avoid the kind of rubbish that pervades the VBB.  We'll be accommodating, but if Hemaroid Frog Butt shows up, I will personally ban him on sight.

Anyone else remember that guy? :D

Oh yes. He lived up to his name quite well. I always suspected he became Stryke9 or an0n...
